Laser Auto Level

Problem topping up my Ford Laser with Transmission Fluid?
Ive noticed im very low on transmission fluid on the dipstick on my 89 auto Ford Laser, so I topped it up with almost a full bottle of transmission fluid (1 Litre), then started my car and when for a little drive then came back and re-checked my fluid level, no change, im still just as low, I can find no sign of leak coming from under the car, or the road ive just driven on, so Im puzzled that where could my transmission fluid be could be going? Im unsure how much fluid my car holds, but bottles are only sold in 1 Litres. Any ideas ?
Remember the torque converter stores fluid along with the pan, the converter has a back flow restrict-or valve in it so that fluid stay in it. then when you start your car the pump in the transmission will pump fluid through the trans and torque converter. that is why you always want to check your trans fluid with your car running. on a level surface. that give you the indication of if your low on trans fluid. When you checked it the first time it was probably just showing what was in the pan start your car and on a level surface check the trans. if it still shows low then fill to the proper level. if your showing no signs of a leak anywhere that is the only thing that it can be.
